Butt Fusion Machine – Laser Scanner Upgrade

What We Did

These Butt Fusion Welders were brought into the country and assessed on arrival.

It was deemed that they didn’t comply with PUWER Regulations and needed remedial work to be completed. We offered a variety of solutions, however the company settled on rear and side perimeter guarding and gate access when long products need to be loaded, and laser scanners fitted to either side of the machine. These scanners monitor for entry, and will shut down the machine safety system preventing unexpected startup of the equipment. The operator will be required to run the machine from outside the danger zone. A warning zone was created and an alarm fitted, to prevent nuisance tripping.
